| Q1)
I see your Water Guard Whole House Water Filtration
System comes in three different models. How do I choose
for my situation?
The no.1 Water Guard System (3 stage filtration
without UV sterilization) is designed for town supply
water where the authorities typically control water
quality by the addition of chlorine. This system allows
you to remove 99% of the chlorine and associated odours,
together with any sediment and discolouration which
sometimes occurs during periods of high rainfall.
The no. 2 Water Guard System (3 stage
filtration with 50L/min UV sterilization) is suited
to standard size house (3/4 bedroom) utilizing rain
tank water, surface or bore water, where UV sterilization
will take care of any bacteria (e.g. E Coli) and organisms
such as Guardia in the water supply.
The no.3 Water Guard System (3 stage filtration
with 100L/min UV sterilization) is the most powerful
and is designed for rain tank water, surface or bore
water,(as above) but for larger houses, and higher water
usage households.
Q2) Can I order The Water Guard
system from the website?
Yes you can, by using the Contact page (include your
delivery address), and we will provide you with a “best
freight rate” price, delivered to your door. Our
bank details for payment will be on your Quote.
Q3) The Water Guard UV System
looks to be quite powerful, does it require 3 phase
power?
No, conventional single phase is fine. (UV lamp only
uses approx. equivalent power to a strong light globe.)
Q4) What is the difference between
your activated carbon block filters and the granular
carbon filters I have heard about?
Our block filters contain activated carbon as highly
ground particles offering both a greater surface area
and longer water exposure time for superior absorption
of toxins and odours. Granular carbon filters are made
up of coarser particles, and some actually allow water
to set up a passage of least resistance through them
(a water track), such that the granular carbon is less
able to do its normal efficient job of absorption of
water contaminants
Q5) I wish to install the Water
Guard System myself, is this possible?
Yes, easy if you are a handy person, otherwise ask your
local plumber. Full Installation Instructions are contained
in each Water Guard Whole House Filtration System pack.
Our inlet and outlet valves are standard 1” (25mm):
just identify the size of your own water line (normally
1”, ¾” or 1 ¼”), and
pick up standard hose connectors / additional piping
to suit (e.g. Bunnings, Mitre 10, and Plumbers Supplies
etc.)
Q6) Any tips for filter removal
for cleaning or replacement?
Turn off your water supply, and press the red button
on top of the filter housing to reduce the pressure
in the system – and stop you getting wet! The
enclosed filter wrench easily turns the filter housing,
and then unscrew by hand. Remove the filter, clean /
or replace, and insert back in the housing. Check the
O Ring is seated neatly in its groove, screw up the
filter housing, and turn water back on. (These Instructions
are in your Manual) Remember to remove the plastic wrapping
from replacement filters before use!
Q7) I have a problem screwing
back the filter casing evenly, what should I do?
Take out the O Ring, clean it and clean the groove it
sits in. Apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline to the O
Ring and the groove; carefully refit the O Ring and
the cartridge casing will screw back easily into place
Q8) Will the Water Guard filtration
system reduce the Fluoride added to my town supply water?
Our standard 3 stage filtration system will certainly
reduce the fluoride levels in town water by variable
amounts according to individual circumstances, but not
to the 99%+ removal possible with the likes of chlorine.
However, you could maximise the removal of fluoride
by using two activated carbon filters in your system,
substituting your Pleated Pre-Filter with a second activated
carbon block filter.
